Somewhere on death row a black man is waiting to be executed for a crime he didn't commit because he doesn't exist. Somewhere on death row a black man who doesn't exist is waiting to be executed for the crime of murdering two small boys by drowning. The black man who doesn't exist was created by a white woman who does exist and who did indeed murder two small boys by drowning but who will not be executed because the jury felt that she had had a troubled life and didn't get the help she needed. The black man who doesn't exist also had a troubled life and didn't get the help he needed.
In fact, there are a large number of black men on death row now, all of whom had troubled lives and didn't get the help they needed. When the black man who doesn't exist is executed, they will ask him for his last words and this is what he will say: "A hammer without a handle is not a good hammer. A car without a steering wheel is not a good car. And a law which cannot be applied fairly is not a good law. Read the statistics. How many black people who are convicted of murder get the death penalty? How many white people who are convicted of murder get the death penalty? Read the statistics."
And then he dies.
